Airplane

Flying in a dream is a joyful event, whether the dreamer herself is flying or whether she's in a machine that can fly, such as a plane. While being in an airplane can represent soaring to new heights, excitement, and seeking adventure, it probably symbolizes these actions within the context of an everyday event, such as going on a trip to a new destination or visiting a favorite relative or friend.

Angel

The angel is a supernatural being that brings comfort to dreamers when its image appears. Children feel special and protected when angels appear in their sleep because they feel connected to supreme celestial forces that would never let injury or ill health harm them.

Animal

Consider what animals epitomize: They're instinctual creatures that live in harmony with nature and are difficult to control. They're powerful, but they can be ferocious with sharp fangs and claws. Animals are typically feared in young children's dreams; however, children can have dreams of happily playing with a favorite furry friend. A child's view of animals (ones she likes or fears) is going to be shaped by what she's exposed to at home. (Do you have pets? What kinds of pets? Do you live in the country or the city?) Furthermore, if you think about it, animals and children live somewhat parallel lives in the sense that they're both savage to a degree. (How many times do parents say, "He acts like a little wild animal?!"). And human beings alter natural environments and try to tame wild creatures just as parents try to teach their children self-control and instruct them on how to behave. So when talking animals appear in kids dreams by talking or giving advice, this may be part of the child's self-realization that he's growing up and is more in control of his behavior.

Antler

Antlers grow of the top of an animals head in a tree like way, and although animals do use them to assert authority in battle over territory and to fight rivals when mating, antlers typically symbolize growth in dreams. Because they come from the head, they're related to intellectual and creative development.

Attacked

Being chased or attacked in a dream is quite scary for any individual, especially a child. And these nightmares are actually quite common. After all, how many times have you woken up from one of them feeling anxious and helpless, yet relieved once you've discovered the experience wasn't real. These dreams are our way of sorting out a conflict we're dealing with in everyday life, and this type of internal struggle is similar for children. They may be reacting to a perceived or real threat (eg. a school bully or a mean sibling) or an obstacle to getting something they want.

Banana

The banana is a male symbol, so for adolescents, bananas can take on sensual connotations.

Bathroom

The bathroom is a space in the house where someone seeks privacy. It also relates to physical relief, which is why sometimes we dream of going to the bathroom only to wake up realizing we actually need to use the toilet. However, it can figuratively relate to relief in that the dreamer wants to release himself of a pressure and seek refuge in a personal place away from people. In addition, when dreamers picture themselves naked around others, the dream is often set in the bathroom, such as when the dreamer is showering. Suddenly, the dreamer finds herself exposed and vulnerable in front of others. Preschoolers who are being toilet trained may also dream of going to the bathroom. They could even wet the bed or feel like they're going to. Moreover, they may dream of being wet, such as if they're floating in a pool.

Bed

The bed as a dream symbol can have multiple meanings. A child may be scared of the space under the bed, because like a closet, it can be a lurking ground for the infamous boogie man and all sorts of villains and monsters. It's a dark, scary area that represents the unknown. So in a nightmare, something terrifying might emerge from the shadows beneath the bed because a child feels defenseless when she's asleep. On the flip and positive side, the bed is also a comforting place, where mom and dad tuck the child in at night and where they tell stories. So in a dream, a bed could also reflect a secure feeling. In addition, during adolescence the bed could have a sensual connotation.

Bee

It's almost comical how the sound of buzzing in a home can cause widespread panic to find the menancing source. But that threat of bodily harm, even from the smallest of living things, can be extremely threatening. In the case of bees, their stingers pack a poisonous punch, which children know from encountering them outside when they're playing, so when kids dream about bees, they're a metaphor for a poisonous threat in their lives that they feel could significantly harm them, probably emotionally from harsh, hurtful words. (These nightmares are a reminder that the phrase "Sticks and stone may break my bones, but words will never harm me" couldn't be more wrong.) On the flip side, bees are known for positive attributes as well, such as their ability to skillfully work together to build hives and produce honey.

Bird

The dream bird, when it's not a black or ominous bird, can represent a pleasant or happy state of mind. Birds are creatures that are free to travel and go where they please. Many birds use singing as a way to effectively communicate and make their needs known, such as how male birds sing to attract females.
