In dreams, water represents the deeper part of ourselves, i.e., the subconscious. It can be associated with the unknown, relating to the depths of our subconscious and concealed emotions. However, because water is contained within a small area in a pool, the feelings the pool symbolizes might not be as overwhelming in comparison to what the ocean may symbolize in a dream. In addition, a preschooler who is being toilet trained and dreams of floating in a pool may wake up to find that she's wet her bed. On the upside, water also has many positive associations, such as swimming and spending time with family. So if a child dreams of playing happily in a pool she's probably feeling good about herself and what's happening in her life.

This color is a symbol of mixed meaning, which means as a parent trying to understand what your child's dreams mean, you need to consider what's going on in your child's life at the point in time of the dream. Brown can be a positive symbol representing soil, which nourishes new life and growth. However, it could also be a negative symbol such as mud--an obstacle that prevents the dreamer from moving, acting, or achieving. In addition, brown is the color of feces, and so it could symbolize how things aren't going well or the way the dreamer wants.

Windows in dreams give us a glimpse of how we see our lives. For instance, if everything on the other side looks cheery, then we're probably in good spirits, but if everything on the other side is gloomy looking or dying, then we're probably feeling sad or something is wrong in our lives. In addition, windows in dreams are thin barriers protecting the dreamer or keeping him away from the outside world. For example, if the window is fogged up, perhaps the dreamer wants to conceal something. Windows can also be the vulnerable areas in homes through which villains break into dreams as well as in real life.
